Integrated Type 5 Chemical Tests for Steam Sterilization

Type 5 indicator allows evaluation of three key parameters: time, temperature, and steam penetration under pressure. Unlike most chemical tests, no color interpretation of the test field is required. In the STERIM® Control 5 test, confirmation of meeting the required parameters is indicated by the movement of the indicator substance.

Type 5 chemical test is divided into two zones – white and blue. During sterilization, a dark strip appears in the white area at the center of the strip and gradually moves toward the blue zone. Upon completion of the cycle, reaching the blue zone indicates a positive control result.

The test strip of the integrated Type 5 test should be placed inside the sterilization package. After the cycle, check whether the dark strip has reached the blue zone.
