Chemical tests

Control using chemical indicators that comply with the requirements of the PN-EN ISO 11140-1 standard is the most commonly used method for assessing the effectiveness of the sterilization process in steam sterilizers. The test usually takes the form of a strip containing a substance that changes color under the influence of physical factors such as temperature and pressure. The test substance is completely safe and inert with respect to the sterilization process. In accordance with the recommendations of the standard, the number of tests should be selected according to the size of the sterilizer chamber.
