Effective protection against external damage to the packaging, as well as against perforation caused by protruding elements of the sterilized item, is essential. Preparing large materials with non-standard shapes for sterilization is a particular challenge. In such cases, the use of sterilization pouches or reels is often not possible. The pack must then be wrapped using sheets made of suitable material. SMS nonwoven fabric is manufactured from cellulose and synthetic fibers, providing high mechanical strength. For this reason, especially when sterilizing heavy materials, it is in many cases practically irreplaceable.

SMS nonwoven fabric allows the sterilizing agent to pass through freely. Depending on the sterilization method used, this may be steam, hydrogen peroxide plasma, or ethylene oxide. During the sterilization process, the pack does not deform and its mechanical properties remain unchanged. After sterilization, the prepared packaging forms a sterile barrier with an effectiveness of up to 99.9%, enabling safe transport and storage of the packs.
