Sampling is performed using dedicated, standardized swabs, which are part of a test kit that also includes an enzyme reacting with ATP. This reaction produces light, the intensity of which is measured by a precise luminometer with automatic calibration. This contamination detection method is characterized by high sensitivity and is ideally suited for continuous and regular measurements as part of an established hygiene and sanitation policy.
