Type 4 Steam Sterilization Tests
Type 4 strip tests react to two or more critical variables of the steam sterilization process. The indicator’s reaction time is controlled by a precisely formulated, non-toxic chemical composition, free from lead and other heavy metals.
After a correct sterilization cycle, the chemical indicator changes color from blue to black within the temperature range of 121°C - 134°C and time range of 20 min. - 3.5 min.
Type 4 indicators are suitable for use in packs containing metal instruments, porous materials, rubber, plastics, and cotton textiles. The full indicator size is 1.7 cm x 20.5 cm; after splitting: 1.7 cm x 10.25 cm. Test class information according to standards is printed on each indicator and on the packaging.
