PRO-Clean™ Protein Residue Test

The PRO-Clean™ protein residue test provides a fast and reliable assessment of cleaning and disinfection effectiveness on surfaces in hospital environments, sterilization units, food processing plants, and more. No additional equipment (such as a luminometer) is required – the result is obtained by comparing the reagent color change with the reference chart.

PRO-Clean™ test comes in the form of a pen-like tube containing a sterile swab. After sampling, the swab is placed back inside the tube, and by pressing the built-in ampoule, the reagent is released. The solution flows to the bottom of the tube and reacts with any protein residues collected from the tested surface.

A color change indicates the presence of contamination. The PRO-Clean™ test also allows assessment of contamination levels – both the speed of the color change and the final color provide useful information. The reference chart is printed directly on the test tube.

How to use the PRO-Clean™ rapid test:

1. Remove the PRO-Clean™ test from its thermal protective packaging and label it according to your facility’s standards for easy identification.

2. Take the swab from the tube and collect the sample from the selected surface. Swab a 10x10 cm area using overlapping cross-strokes. For irregularly shaped objects (e.g., taps, handles), use broad strokes to cover as much surface area as possible, rotating the swab during collection.

3. After sampling, place the swab back into the test tube. Hold the tube firmly and snap the ampoule by bending it forward and backward. Squeeze the ampoule several times to release the reagent to the bottom of the tube.

4. Shake the tube for 5–10 seconds. Keep the PRO-Clean™ test upright while waiting for the result.

5. After 60 seconds, read the result by comparing the liquid’s color to the reference chart printed on the tube.
