Bowie & Dick tests

Daily monitoring of the proper functioning of a steam sterilizer is a mandatory part of procedures in every hospital, clinic, or dental practice. It involves placing a Bowie-Dick test in the empty chamber of the device and running the autoclave in Bowie-Dick mode. This method allows for verification of the effectiveness of air removal and vacuum generation, as well as the quality of the steam. The ability of the steam—acting as the biocidal agent—to penetrate is also verified, which is particularly important when sterilizing porous materials and medical instruments with complex designs.
